Since 2007, NMDR has rescued more than 25,000 dogs and built a nationwide community dedicated to giving vulnerable dogs the second chances they deserve. Through rescue, rehabilitation, adoption, education, and advocacy, we work every day to help dogs heal, trust again, and find loving homes.

To ensure the best match for both dogs and adopters, we follow an application and interview process. All adoptions are currently by appointment only.

Many of the dogs in our care are puppy mill survivors who require patience, understanding, and time to heal. The rewards of helping a dog discover safety, trust, and love are immeasurable.

After submitting your application, an Adoption Coordinator will contact you within 48–72 hours. Please check your spam or junk folder regularly, as our emails are sometimes filtered there.

Your adoption fee helps provide the medical care, rehabilitation, and support our dogs need on their journey to a brighter future.

We encourage adopters to check out our website nmdr.org and fill out an adoption appllication, it's free! From there our adoptions team will look over your application and have a discussion on approval, who may be a good fit for your home, and setting up an appointment for a meet and greet when you are approved. This process takes about 2-3 days at most.
