About Us
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control is the municipal shelter for Mecklenburg County. Every year, we intake over 10,000 animals, and average around 100-120 adoptions per week. In addition to offering low-cost adoptions 7-days a week at our 2 adoption center locations, our team is proud to serve our community by offering a number of pet-focused resources and programs. Our two adoption-center locations are; 8315 Byrum Dr. Charlotte, NC 28217, and 2700 Toomey Ave. Charlotte, NC 28203.

Adoption Process
All you will need to complete an adoption is a valid ID. No applications are required, and unless animals are awaiting veterinary treatment, adoptions are same day. If you plan on adopting a dog, bring a leash! If you plan on adopting a cat, bring a cat carrier!

Special Programs & Areas Served
Special Programs: In addition to our adoption program, our shelter is proud to offer an application-based low-cost clinic service, monthly free rabies-vaccine clinics, and bi-annual free microchip and core vaccine clinics.
