Adopters meet with the animals available at our shelter or at off-site adoption events. They fill out a questionnaire and spend time with an adoption counselor to ask questions and learn more to ensure a good match. If everything looks good and the animal is already spayed / neutered the adoption is finalized that day. If the animal still needs to be spayed / neutered, they will be held at the shelter and can go to their new home after the surgery is performed (generally within 3 days).

Help Us Clear the Shelters
Greenhill Humane Society is joining NBC & Telemundo's Clear The Shelters — the nationwide adoption campaign that's helped more than one million pets find homes since 2015. Adoption specials run all August long — our event page has the details, in-person event days, and the pets waiting to meet you.
Our Mission
Greenhill Humane Society provides care and shelter for animals, support and resources for people, and education to promote the humane treatment of animals.
About Us
Greenhill Humane Society has been caring for animals in Lane County since 1944. We operate the only animal shelter within the Eugene/Springfield area. Our programs include animal adoptions; reuniting lost animals with their families; disaster response; crisis care boarding in situations of domestic violence, medical emergencies, and other crisis situations; spay/neuter for free roaming, un-owned community cats; a pet pantry; on-site volunteer opportunities; foster care and humane education. Last year, we had 5797 total shelter and clinic intakes. We made 2833 adoptions into loving homes and had 1089 pet reunions for animals. In addition, we provided 1583 cat spay/neuter surgeries to assist cat caregivers in reducing feral cat over-population.
