Meet Spike! This handsome 4-year-old Australian Cattle Dog (Red Heeler) weighs 37 pounds and has a gentle heart with a strong desire to be close to his people. Spike absolutely loves life in a home, where he can relax with his family, soak up affection, and aim to please. He seeks out love from the people he trusts, enjoys carrying around his favorite soft toys, and is happiest spending time with his humans. Short walks and quiet companionship are his idea of a perfect day. Spike can sometimes feel overwhelmed in busy environments, so a home with no young children would be the best fit to help him feel safe, comfortable, and successful.

Spike has successfully completed his heartworm treatment and is doing great! He will simply need a few follow-up tests to ensure everything continues to progress as expected, and our team will be happy to guide his adopters through the remainder of his care.

Spike gets along well with most other dogs, though his enthusiastic and sometimes awkward social style may not be appreciated by every canine companion. Thoughtful introductions and dogs that enjoy his playful personality will help set everyone up for success.

He's also working on his manners and continues to make progress every day. Spike will truly shine in a home that provides a consistent routine, clear expectations, and positive reinforcement. We'd be happy to discuss his training plan, progress, and ways to help him continue building confidence and good habits in his new home.

We do require an in-person meet and greet to ensure the best possible fit for both Spike and his future family.

Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog.
