This wonderful senior is looking for a loving forever home where he can enjoy his golden years with a family who appreciates his sweet nature and classic Husky personality.

Oliver is a 10-year-old Husky weighing 60 pounds. He has a gentle heart, a curious spirit, and plenty of life left to enjoy. While he can be shy when meeting new people or exploring unfamiliar environments, patience and a little time allow his affectionate personality to shine.

Oliver has been living with another canine companion here at our facility, which has given us the opportunity to learn more about his social preferences. He particularly enjoys the company of female dogs and has recently started playing with them. Having another dog around appears to help Oliver feel more comfortable and confident, and he may do best in a home with another compatible canine companion. A confident, tolerant dog could help Oliver continue building trust and feel more secure with his new family.

Oliver is also food motivated, which makes treats a wonderful way to build a bond with him and encourage positive interactions. He enjoys going for walks and exploring the world around him, and while he may be a senior, he still appreciates staying active and engaged.

Oliver will need a home without small animals, including cats, rabbits, chickens, or other small pets. He is also looking for a home without young children. Experience with Huskies or other independent breeds is strongly preferred, as his future family should understand and appreciate his unique personality and needs.

With patience, consistency, positive reinforcement, and the companionship of another compatible dog, Oliver has the potential to continue growing in confidence and become an even more affectionate companion.

A required in-person meet and greet at our shelter is part of the adoption process to help ensure the best fit for Oliver, any resident dogs, and his potential adopters.

Many NMDR dogs have had limited prior socialization and may need time, patience, and support as they adjust to home life. Skills such as house training, leash walking, and handling may require continued practice. Progress will vary by individual dog.
