Southern Arizona Cat Rescue

Rescue, rehabilitate, and find forever homes for homeless kittens and cats in Southern Arizona.

Southern Arizona Cat Rescue (SACR) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization established in October 2019. We're a foster home based rescue with fosters throughout Tucson, Oro Valley & Sahuarita. With more than a dozen founding members, we are a unique crew of animal lovers from all walks of life. We are dedicated to saving the lives of Southern Arizona's at-risk cat and kitten population. With 80% of kittens born outside each year, we strive to save all those in need and ensure mother cats are never left behind through the practice of TNR (Trap Neuter Return) or adoption if applicable. We also opened Hunter's Kitten Lounge in July 2024 where adoptable kitties reside and locals can visit!

Adoptions, Fostering Program, Animal Rescue/Transport

Step one of adopting with SACR is to fill out the adoption application on our website even if they live at Hunter's Kitten Lounge (we do not do same day adoptions from here). Our Adoption Coordinator then reviews the applications and asks any questions if needed. Once approved, the applicant then has a chance to talk with the foster family of the cat/kitten of interest.
From here if it is a purrfect match, an adoption appointment is scheduled via our Adoption Coordinator 2 ways.
1. If the cat/kitten is in a foster home, the appointment would be scheduled for the following Saturday at our PetSmart location (5319 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson AZ)
2. If the kitten/cat resides at Hunter's Kitten Lounge, their appointment for take home would be scheduled at the lounge with the lounge team at a later date

All of our cats and kittens reside in foster homes until time of adoption. When they become available, they are posted on our website and Facebook page and step one is always filling out our adoption application.
We do have Adoption Events usually every Saturday at our PetSmart location (4374 N Oracle Rd Tucson, AZ) from 11am-2pm. We have some who come for "open adoptions" meaning they are not spoken for and can be met and go home the same day if the potential adopter is approved and a good fit. Not all cats and kittens attend each event, so if you see one of interest, it is best to fill out an application to chat further with the foster family and then setup a meet and greet appointment via our Adoption Coordinator at the adoption event.
We also have Hunter's Kitten Lounge where kittens and cats of various ages reside and can be met during business hours for an entry fee of $15 for an 80 minute session. We do not do same day adoptions! If you happen to find your purrfect match, you would then apply on our website.
