The mission of the Cranston Animal Shelter is to serve our community by protecting, caring for, and advocating for the animals who depend on us. We strive to be a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, while supporting the people and families who love them.

Our goal is to give every animal that comes through our doors compassion, safety, and the opportunity for a better future. Through responsible animal care, education, community outreach, adoption, and advocacy, we work to strengthen the bond between people and animals and create a safer, kinder community for all.

We are here for our community. We are here for its animals. And we will always strive to be their voice.

The Cranston Animal Shelter is working to redefine what a municipal animal shelter can be. We believe our responsibility goes far beyond responding to calls and providing animals with a temporary place to stay. Our goal is to create a shelter that is actively involved in the community while giving every animal in our care the support, compassion, and advocacy they deserve.

Our Animal Control Officers are involved in every part of that mission—from protecting animals in the community and responding to those in need, to caring for the animals inside our shelter and helping prepare them for their next chapter.

We are continuing to grow our volunteer and foster programs, strengthen community involvement, provide medical and behavioral resources when needed, and work toward finding the right outcome for each individual animal.

Most importantly, we want to be a voice for the animals who cannot speak for themselves. Every animal that comes through our doors has different needs and a different story. We are committed to taking the time to understand those needs, advocate for their well-being, and give them the best opportunity possible.

We are proud to be helping change the perception of what a city shelter can be—not simply a place animals come to, but a place that fights for them.
