About Us
Palm Valley Animal Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Edinburg, Texas, serving the Rio Grande Valley through sheltering, adoption, foster care, rescue, transport, wellness, spay/neuter, and educational programs. PVAS operates two centers in Edinburg and provides lifesaving care for animals across municipal partners and Hidalgo County. Founded in 1974, the organization has grown to serve more than 10,000 animals annually while working toward a safer, more humane community for pets and the people who love them.

Special Programs & Areas Served
Special Programs: PVAS operates several programs designed to keep pets healthy, supported, and connected to their communities. These include low-cost spay and neuter services, community vaccination and wellness clinics, foster programs, rescue and transport partnerships, humane education through the C.A.R.E. program, and volunteer and community engagement opportunities.
Areas Served: Animal sheltering and municipal services are primarily provided for McAllen, Edinburg, Palmhurst, the City of Hidalgo, and unincorporated Hidalgo County. PVAS's community programs, including adoption, spay/neuter, vaccination, education, and outreach initiatives, also serve residents and pet owners from across the broader Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.
