Adoption Process
Come into the shelter during adoption hours and have a look around! See a pet that you'd like to spend more time with? Fill out a short profile and we will get you into a visitation room with the pet of your choice.
Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, applicable vaccinations, dewormer, and flea prevention. Adopters are provided with copies of all medical performed at the shelter to share with their vet.
Adoption Fees:
Dogs - $110
Cats - $75 (second adoption fee is waived if two cats or kittens are adopted at the same time)
Small Animals - $20 and up depending on species
How to Meet Our Pets
You can meet our pets anytime during our adoption hours. We do require proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination for any other cats or dogs in the home. Meet & greets with current dogs are also required prior to adoption
Special Programs & Areas Served
Special Programs: Chesapeake Animal Services has a robust volunteer and fostering program. We also have a Saturday field trip program called Snout & About where the public can take a shelter dog out for the day
