Our Mission is to enforce Ohio State Laws and Ordinances that pertain to animal care, control and management. This includes the operation of the Animal Shelter that provides humane care of stray and homeless animals awaiting owners or adoption. As good stewards of the public trust we will operate in such a manner to provide progressive programs in public health and safety, Educate & assist our communities in responsible pet ownership and develop ethical standards of service that recognize diversity and inclusion of all people.

Adoption Process
## 🐾 How Our Adoption Process Works
Bringing home your new best friend is easy!
**1️⃣ Submit an Adoption Application**
Complete an adoption application, and our staff will review it as soon as possible.
**2️⃣ Application Review**
Once your application has been reviewed, we'll contact you to let you know if it has been:
* ✅ Approved
* ⏳ Pending (if we need additional information)
* ❌ Declined (we'll explain why)
**3️⃣ Meet Your Potential New Family Member**
If you're pre-approved, you'll have the opportunity to take the dog or cat out of their kennel to spend some one-on-one time together and make sure it's the perfect match for both of you.
**4️⃣ Complete the Adoption**
When you've decided to adopt, we'll complete all of the adoption paperwork during your visit. Please bring a valid photo ID.
**5️⃣ Celebrate! **
Before you head home, we'll snap an adoption photo, answer any questions you have, and send you and your new furry family member off to begin your next adventure together.

How to Meet Our Pets
You can meet our cats and dogs via walk-in, a meet and greet appointment, or at adoption events.
Special Programs & Areas Served
Special Programs: We offer a Pet Pantry Program to assist people in Greene County who need some assistance getting supplies for their pet. You need to live in Greene County and have your pets licensed and fixed to use the program. We also have a volunteer program so you can come visit, and love on all the animals at our shelter. Volunteers also help out at adoptions/mobile events when needed.
Areas Served: We service all of Greene County Ohio for stray dogs and are contracted out for cats and wildlife by the towns, cities, and municipalities in Greene County at the beginning of each year.
