Christian is new in rescue. He is a 6 year old, 16 pound, purebred miniature schnauzer. He is listed as Salt and Pepper on his AKC registration but he is a beautiful chocolate/liver/cream combination. Christian comes to us from a hoarding situation in Pennsylvania.
Christian has been vetted and had his vaccines updated. He will be neutered next Tuesday 7/23/2025. Christian will also need a dental cleaning before he can be adopted.
Once he has healed from his dental, he will be ready for adoption.
Christian is understandably confused right now but he is extremely loving and seeks attention and affection. He is working on his potty manners and learning about a leash. He is skittish of new things but is curious enough to give it the old college try. He has great potential. He wants to please.
Christian seems to be a leader and does show some dominance around the foster dogs in the home. We believe this will change once he is neutered. He is not aggressive at all but does like to strut and puff up his chest a bit around the resident 30 pound schnauzer, Henry. Henry is unbothered by his antics!
Christian will need an active home with lots of attention. He will probably be okay with a calm, older dog with young dog experience. He loves his foster family and will nudge them for pets and chin scritches! He will make a wonderful addition to a new home!
Schnauzers are great watch dogs. They are intelligent, active dogs who enjoy training. They may not be good apartment dogs as they tend to bark. They require regular exercise and mental stimulation. They also require grooming every 4-6 weeks.
