Description

This is Poseidon. He has a mighty name but he is such a soft spoken, sweet natured guy that his foster family calls him Bryson. Bryson is the sweetest boy and a very docile pup for his size. He is a Great Pyrenees mix and currently 33 lbs at 4 months of age. We think he will be 60ish pounds full grown. His foster mom likes to joke and say he’s an old man in a puppy body! While he does have typical spurts of puppy energy, he’s a bit more on the mellow side.

He enjoys playing with other dogs of all sizes, he gets nervous at first , but warms up quickly. He is still learning some social cues, so he would do best with properly socialized dogs to keep his confidence level up.

He is currently in a home with 2 cats, very curious and a bit too playful, so to not stress out other cats in a home he would do best without.

He is doing really well walking on leash. He will lag behind frequently (smelling all the flowers) then back to walking by your side.

Bryson does great with kids of all sizes! He loves a good nap time with the 4-year-old in the home, so if you have time for a nap or binge watch some movies and cuddle, he’s your guy! He is going through his teething phase, so he should have plenty of toys and enrichment activities for redirecting those puppy teeth when needed.

Bryson is doing well with crate training and potty training. He is picking up on basic manners like sit, down and most importantly working on recall! He is very food motivated so always a plus for training.

Bryson would thrive in just about any loving home— he’s adaptable, affectionate, and ready to bond with his forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet-natured pup who will be your loyal shadow, cuddle buddy, and playmate all in one, Bryson is your boy!

If you are interested in our sweet pup Bryson, the first step is to go to our website and fill out an application. https://placingpawsrescue.org/applications/dog-application/

BEFORE CONSIDERING A PUPPY FOR ADOPTION: Please keep in mind that puppies need attention during the day. They need frequent potty breaks, playtime, socialization and often a mid day meal. Please consider your daytime schedule before applying for a puppy.

SPAY/NEUTER POLICY: Our adoption fee covers the puppies spay or neuter at our vet in Libertyville. If the puppy is adopted prior to the spay or neuter being done you will be required to bring the puppy back to our vet within 30 days for the surgery.

ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 The adoption fee includes all age appropriate vaccinations including rabies, HW test if age appropriate, de-worming, microchip, fecal, spay or neuter, Heartworm and flea and tick preventative.

ADOPTION PROCESS: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY
The first step in the adoption process is to fill out an application online at www.placingpawsrescue.org.
Once we review the applications, those applicants that are thought to be a good match will be contacted as quickly as possibly. We ask that you please be patient with us as we are all volunteers. Then a telephone interview will take place, references checked and a home visit will be conducted. We will then arrange for you to meet the dog. We require that all family members, including current dogs meet the dog prior to adoption. We put all of the known information in the animals description. If the animal is listed on the website, we are still accepting applications for that animal. We only remove the animal when the final adoption paperwork is signed. The best way to contact us is by email at [email protected]. It is very difficult for the limited numbers of volunteers to return all calls. Thank you.

  • Mission Statement:

Placing Paws of Illinois (PPI) was established in 2008 with the goal of saving animals from high-kill shelters. One of the primary goals is to take animals from rural shelters that have a high euthanasia rate. Rural shelters are overcrowded and under funded and the animals there have little or no hope of finding an adoptive home. Often, their best hope of finding a happy forever home is to be taken into the care of a rescue such as PPI. All of the animals that are taken into the care and comfort of PPI receive proper veterinary care and a loving foster home while they wait to be placed in the "Hearts of their Forever Homes".
