MY STORY: Sweet little Snickers came to us from a breeding farm and exhibits many typical attributes of being from a breeder. She is skittish, nervous, shy and unsure of almost everything. Although she has, and will always have, her quirks, we have seen Snickers make progress since she arrived! She has a beautiful, long, soft coat and willingly accepts head pets and scratches. Although she often scurries away if someone approaches her too quick, she does allow people to touch her and even pick her up without any issues. When Snickers first arrived she was in constant fear with wide eyes, she has settled in more and is more at ease as more time goes on. She will need another dog in her future home to follow and learn from. She likes chewing on bones and will secretly chew on stuffed toys when she thinks nobody is watching - but we see it and love that she’s getting more comfortable enjoying these things! With plenty of time, patience and love, Snickers will be a wonderful, devoted, sweet girl to her future adopters. This sweet girl deserves the best and we are excited to continue watching her get comfortable and ease past some of her past trauma with the help of consistency, patience and love.

Snickers is currently in a foster home and she is doing so well! Here are the first impressions: "This adorable little girl came to live with us almost 2 weeks ago, very skittish and shy. She is learning many new things in her new journey. She has learned what outside is and potties with no indoor accidents. Still doesn't ask to go and we have to take her out. She has mastered up and down stairs and will explore the fenced yard. She returns to the door when finished. She watches us for approval and encouragement. She is starting to walk on a leash, good with other dogs but not playing with them yet . She sleeps in a crate at night well and now can't wait for the door to open. She now trusts us enough to take treats from our hand as well as visitors. Accepting more pets each day. She seems to love people watching. Proud of her learning what safety and love is."

Foster update (4/14/25): Snickers is still learning about family life. She has mastered potty outside with no accidents in almost a month. She is taking treats from us, has learned to come out of her crate in the morning and return at bedtime. She sleeps well all night. She is still working on walking on a leash. She is still shy but making progress. She follows our dogs but not really playing with them. She will get it in time. She is a sweet girl. Patience and love is what she needs.

ADOPTION FEE: $650

To adopt the FIRST STEP is to complete an APPLICATION.

Adopters must be 24 years of age. We can not adopt to families with children under the age of six. We also only adopt in WI, IL, and parts of MN. Most of our dogs are strays, so the breed is our best guess.
