Peanut first came to PRAS as a stray when he was around 6 months old. He was adopted, but his big personality and high energy proved to be a bit more than his adopter was prepared for, and he eventually found his way back to us.

Peanut is a fun, energetic young dog who is still learning how to appropriately channel all that excitement! He can be rough with his play and may become overstimulated, which can include biting during play. While this behavior does not appear to be aggression, Peanut will need a consistent, structured home with someone who understands dog behavior and is willing to put in the time and training to help him develop better play and impulse-control skills.

Peanut has previously lived with a cat, although the two never really became friends-his energy was likely a little too much for his feline roommate. He has also met several dogs at the shelter, where he took corrections appropriately and even offered some nice play with another pup. He's currently being fostered with two female dogs, and we're looking forward to learning more about how he does with his foster siblings!

Because Peanut's play style and energy aren't going to be the right fit for every household, everyone in the home will need to meet Peanut before adoption. We want to make sure his future family is comfortable with his personality, understands his needs, and is prepared to provide the training, structure and consistency he'll need to be successful.

Peanut has plenty of potential, and with the right person in his corner, we're confident he can continue learning and growing into the wonderful companion we know he can be.
