Meet Sephiroth!
Sephiroth is a 1-year-old American Pit Bull Terrier mix with a zest for life and energy to spare! This goofy, joyful guy lives for movement, playtime, and making his people laugh with his silly antics and happy zoomies.
Brought in as a stray, we don't know much about Sephiroth's past-but we do know his whole future is wide open and waiting for the right family to be part of it. He's ready to leave shelter life behind and start his next big adventure.
If you love spontaneous sprints, outdoor time, and a dog who's always up for action, Sephiroth would make an amazing jogging partner. On a recent ExPAWdition, he enjoyed a run through the park followed by some well-earned downtime, happily chewing on toys under a shady tree. It's the perfect snapshot of his personality-full speed ahead, then content to relax by your side when the fun is done.
Tennis balls are his absolute favorite thing... maybe a little too favorite! He gets so excited about them that he should be monitored during playtime to keep things safe and fun.
Sephiroth is looking for a home ready to match his enthusiasm for life, laughter, and adventure. If you're ready for wagging tails, big smiles, and a best friend who keeps you moving, come meet Sephiroth and see just how much joy one pup can bring.
Seph went on an ExPAWdition recently! Let's read all about it:
"Sephiroth (Seph) and I decided to make the most of Tuesday's beautiful, seasonal weather to enjoy an expawdition at Newport News Park to check out its walking trails on a soupy day.
Seph was eager to begin our trip and hopped right into the backseat of my pup transport. When we arrived, Seph was eager to check out the NN Visitors Center (NNVC) and meet the staff and charge out for our walk. The NNVC staff was very welcoming and Seph became an instant celebrity, for sure. Seph easily made new friends during his tour and enjoyed much-needed ear scratching. His tail wagged non-stop...Seph may even find himself posted in an upcoming NN Visitor Guide.
Afterwards, Seph and I began our walk thru the park to enjoy the trails and sniff around a little. He pulled on the leash at the beginning, but he eventually hit a comfortable pace. Seph was inquisitive with the Park's beautiful surroundings, but didn't cause a ruckus when we walked past other pups and people who were also enjoying the warm day. Seph was curious about all the squirrels scampering about, but he shrugged them off after a sniff or two. He enjoyed resting by a trail bench with anyone prepared to scratch behind his ears while gnawing on his toy. Seph enjoyed a couple of water and puppy snack breaks along the way. He is such a gentleman, gingerly removing those treats from my fingers.
After Seph and I finished our trail walk, we decided to stop in at Chik-Fil-A for tasty chicken nugget treats and soft-serve ice-cream. He was so well-behaved and gently took the chicken from my fingers. Seph washed his meal down with soft-serve ice-cream, barely looking up from the bowl between slurps. Afterwards, we returned to the shelter to share with staff how well-behaved and friendly Seph had been at the Park's Visitor Center and on the trails as well as during his car ride.
Seph is an exceptional pitbull terrier mix who is slightly older than one-year. He boasts a zest for life and energy to spare! This goofy, joyful guy lives for movement, playtime, and making his hoomins laugh with his silly antics and happy zoomies. Seph was brought in as a stray, so we don't know much about his past-but we know he's ready to leave shelter life behind and start his next big adventure.

If you're ready for wagging tails, big smiles, and a best friend who keeps you moving, come meet Seph and see just how much joy one pup can provide. He is housebroken, making him a great addition to your family. As Seph may have a boisterous approach with other dogs, a proper dog-to-dog "meet and greet" would be in order to ensure a good match in a home with other pets.
Seph is super excited to meet his forever family and move-in to his very own home, and he is available for foster as well. Seph is vaccinated and microchipped so you could take him home today. Stop by the Peninsula Regional Animal Shelter (Newport News) right away to meet and get to know Seph. He's the best friend you could hope for: friendly, fun, eager-to-please, easy to walk, loves adventure...and so much more. Seph is the friendly dog everyone looks for. Hope to see you soon at PRAS."
