Rescue GroupSunshine’s Friends Cat Rescue and Sanctuary, Inc. DBA Sunshine's Friends Cat and Dog Rescue (SFCDR) has been in operation since 2010, and was formally incorporated as a tax exempt charitable organization under IRS 501(c)(3) designation on October 14, 2014. Sunshine's Friends goal and primary mission is to reduce the homeless and unwanted cat and dog population by promoting and sponsoring spay and neuter services in the communities that need our help the most. We are a rescue and adoption organization who encourages and facilitates sterilization for pets as well as TNR. We know many community cats were once someone's pet who did not get spayed or neutered. In a typical quarter, we intake and rehome 160 animals, and we facilitate about 650 spay/neuter surgeries for low-income families and communities. Services we provide include: transportation to/from vets; microchip installation and registration; flea/tick treatment; a pet food bank for families experiencing financial hardships; spay/neuter outreach and education program; pet adoptions; and temproary fostering for deploying servicemembers, families and individuals relocating, or those recovering from surgery or illness. This year we became a licensed animal rescue under newly enacted legislation in Anne Arundel County.

OUR MISSION: Our goal and mission is “to reduce the homeless and unwanted cat and dog population by promoting spay and neuter.”
The Five R's:
REDUCE local shelter cat/dog intake and euthanasia rates by promoting and providing low cost/free spay/neuter services and assisting in TNR (trap, neuter return);
RESCUE abandoned community cats and dogs in desperate situations;
REHABILITATE the sick, the injured, and the abused;
REHOME cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies ready for permanent placement; and
provide a loving REFUGE for cats and dogs who do not get adopted.
