Meet Max: Your Next Great Adventure Companion!
If you are looking for a sweet, loyal shadow who will fill your days with warmth, outdoor adventures, and charming personality, say hello to Max!
Max is a stunning 4-5 year old, 72 lb Siberian Husky (classic black and white) who is neutered, house-trained, crate-trained, and completely ready to find his forever pack.
Why You'll Fall in Love with Max
Max is a sensitive, endearing boy with a big heart and a deep love for human connection.
The Ultimate Snuggler: Max thrives on physical affection. He loves leaning his whole body right against you to show how much he cares. If you stop petting him before he's quite finished, he may give you a sudden nibble to say, "Hey, don't stop yet!" (His foster is currently teaching him the "gentle" command to refine his communication, and he already has "sit" down pat!).
Workday Companion: Max's foster works from home, and Max has mastered the art of keeping quiet during the work day. He happily lies down quietly while you work at home, saving all his enthusiasm for after-hours fun.
Master of the Sniff & Outdoor Enthusiast
When the workday ends, Max truly comes alive for his walks!
The Nose Knows: If sniffing were an Olympic sport, Max would take home the gold. Whether you're exploring nature trails, rocky paths, or neighborhood sidewalks, he takes time to stop and literally smell the roses.
The "Downward Dog": When an intriguing scent catches his attention, Max will drop into a full downward-dog yoga pose and pause the walk to fully investigate.
Car Ride Excited: He does great in the car, occasionally whining with pure excitement because he knows a ride usually means a destination of fascinating walks/hikes/sniffs. He loves sticking his nose slightly out the window gap to catch the fresh breeze!
Toys: While shelter stress initially made Max guard a favorite toy, outside of a shelter environment, his foster has observed he's not as interested in toys. In practice, his foster chose not to introduce toys into the mix with his two other dogs.
Grooming: Max loves getting brushed and will stand quietly. He is capable of also sitting for baths albeit with the occasional Husky melodrama.
Playful & Dog-Friendly
Pack Walk Pro: Max enjoys group pack walks and typically gets along well with other dogs.
Playful Tease: He loves games of tag and being chased by another dog! Once he feels confident and comfortable, he is also capable of rough-and-tumble play.
Max will happily stroll alongside small or large dogs all day long. If the household has another dog(s) he will do best with dogs who share his play style.
Max's Ideal Home
Max will thrive best in an adult household with experienced Husky owners who understand and celebrate the energetic, loyal, and wonderfully independent nature of the breed. He is looking for active humans who love long walks and hikes, appreciate his joyful curiosity, and want a devoted partner by their side.
Like many dogs, Max has been significantly affected by the stress of the shelter environment, and some of the behaviors he has displayed may be related to that stress. He is a wonderful dog with tremendous potential, but he requires a confident, experienced handler who is committed to providing structure, consistent training, and appropriate management. He is not recommended for first-time dog owners, but for those committed to providing him structure and boundaries, he has the ability to be a low-maintenance companion. He also requires a home without cats.
His foster says if he did not already have two dogs, he would adopt Max in a heartbeat!
