Milky Way- FOTS

Milky Way FOTS is a 5 month old 13 lb. spayed female Medium Mixed Breed. Milky Way came to the shelter in September as one of a litter of puppies. She was in an adoptive home but was recently returned due to no fault of her own.

Milky Way had surgery in early October (Tibial Tuberosity repair). She needs a responsible Franklin County foster for continued activity restriction (no running, jumping, or rough play) for 4-8 more weeks. She will need to be crated when unattended, and to be given twice daily medication. She can have slow, controlled leash walks of 5 minutes 2-3x daily, increasing by 5 minutes each week as tolerated. She may need passive range or motion exercises, and will need to come back to the shelter for a recheck in 4 weeks. Her medical care will be paid for by FOTS (Friends of the Shelter) until she is medically cleared.

Her fosters reported she was crated at bedtime and was left unsupervised for 2 hours at a time, during which time she was anxious. She was learning potty training and could "hold it" for about 2 hours. Milky Way was friendly with adults and did well with children, and excited to meet new people. Milky Way got along with dogs in the home (there were no cats), but is not permitted to rough play with her current medical healing. This cutie has moderate energy, knows sit, and does well on leash.

If you live in Franklin County and are interested in Fostering to Adopt, come in and sign in with an Adoption Councilor to learn if she could be a good fit.
