❤️ Personality & Breed Information
Meet Vaquita, an adorable 4-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix weighing approximately 12 pounds! This sweet little girl has a wonderful combination of playful energy, affectionate charm, and a loving personality that makes her a delightful companion.
Vaquita may be small in size, but she has plenty of personality! She's a sweet, playful girl who enjoys companionship and would love nothing more than to become a cherished member of a family.
Her friendly nature makes her a wonderful candidate for a household looking for a small dog with a big heart. Vaquita is good with other dogs and children, making her a promising companion for families who appreciate a social, affectionate little dog.
About the Jack Russell Terrier Breed
Jack Russell Terriers are known for their intelligence, lively personalities, curiosity, athleticism, and strong bonds with their families.
Originally bred as working terriers, they are energetic little dogs who often enjoy having activities that keep both their minds and bodies engaged.
As a Jack Russell Terrier mix, Vaquita may share some of these typical breed characteristics:
Intelligent and curious: Jack Russells often enjoy learning new skills and exploring their surroundings.
Playful and energetic: They typically appreciate interactive games, regular walks, and opportunities to stay active.
Affectionate and loyal: Many develop close relationships with their families and enjoy spending time with their favorite people.
Confident and spirited: These little dogs can have big personalities and enjoy being involved in household activities.
Mentally active: Puzzle toys, scent games, and positive reinforcement training can help keep them entertained.
At four years old, Vaquita is a young adult who has moved beyond the earliest stages of puppyhood while still having plenty of energy and enthusiasm for life.
Her ideal family will appreciate her playful personality while providing the affection, exercise, and companionship she needs to thrive.
Vaquita is proof that some of the biggest hearts come in the smallest packages!
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
At four years old, Vaquita will benefit from a consistent routine, continued positive reinforcement training, and plenty of opportunities to build a trusting relationship with her new family.
Rescue dogs may arrive with basic training at best, so adopters should be prepared to continue working on leash manners, basic obedience, recall, household boundaries, house training if needed, and appropriate socialization.
Because Jack Russell Terriers are intelligent and can be independent thinkers, patience and consistency will be important.
Short, enjoyable training sessions using treats, praise, and encouragement can help Vaquita learn new skills while strengthening her bond with her family.
Living With Other Pets
Vaquita is considered friendly with other dogs and children.
Her compatibility with cats has not been confirmed, so introductions to feline companions should be approached carefully.
Jack Russell Terriers can have strong chasing instincts, making appropriate supervision and management especially important around smaller animals.
As with any dog, introductions to new pets should be gradual and respectful of each animal's comfort level.
The 3-3-3 Rule
Every rescue dog needs time to adjust to a new environment.
3 Days: Time to decompress, observe her surroundings, and begin feeling safe.
3 Weeks: Time to understand her new household routine, build confidence, and become more comfortable.
3 Months: Time to strengthen her bond with her family, settle into daily life, and begin feeling truly at home.
These are general guidelines rather than strict deadlines. Every dog adjusts at their own pace.
Vaquita deserves a family who will provide patience, stability, and reassurance as she settles into her forever home.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Vaquita's spay and vaccination status have not yet been confirmed.
Her future adopter should review her veterinary records and schedule a wellness examination to determine whether vaccinations, parasite prevention, microchipping, or other preventive care are needed.
If Vaquita has not yet been spayed, her family should discuss appropriate arrangements with a veterinarian.
As a small Jack Russell Terrier mix, Vaquita will need:
Routine veterinary examinations to monitor her overall health.
Balanced nutrition and appropriate portion control to help maintain a healthy body weight.
Regular exercise and interactive playtime to support her physical and mental well-being.
Dental care, which is especially important for smaller dogs that may be prone to dental problems.
Routine grooming and nail trimming for her comfort and health.
Consistent flea, tick, and parasite prevention as recommended by her veterinarian.
Continued training and mental enrichment to keep her engaged and confident.
Because Jack Russell Terriers can be active and curious, her future family should also provide a safe home environment, secure outdoor areas, and appropriate supervision during walks and playtime.
Adopting Vaquita means making a lifelong commitment to her veterinary care, exercise, safety, training, companionship, and happiness.
