This handsome purebred Rottweiler is approximately 6 years old and is looking for a new forever home through no fault of his own. He was adopted from our rescue in 2021 but was recently returned after his owner experienced serious health issues and could no longer care for him.He has had formal training and knows a variety of commands in both English and German. He is crate trained, potty trained, and walks nicely on a leash with a training collar. He is affectionate, loyal, and wonderful with people, including children. He adored the young child in his previous home and enjoyed spending time with all of her friends. He has also lived successfully with a cat for the past three years, and the two became great companions. However, I don't think he likes other animals in general now. He is getting to be a little self centered in his older years and thinks he should be the only one in the home. After Luke was returned to us he had a couple of episodes where is had a seizure. He was put in medication to control them and after about 6 months he was weaned off of them. He has not had a seizure since the ones he had during the first week. However, while we were getting him examined to check his kidney and liver we found that he is now diabetic and we are treating him for that with insulin shots 2x a day. His kidney were not as healthy as we would have liked them to be and he started to lose control over his bladder function. That has now subsided and he is no longer leaking urine. His only real health challenge at this time is the diabetes. If you're looking for a well-trained, loving, and devoted companion, this sweet boy has so much to offer the right family.Adoption Process:If you are interested in adopting one of our fun-loving, "not-so-rotten" Rotties, you will be asked to fill out our adoption application which allows us to get to know you better. This ensures the dog you are interested in is a good fit for your family and lifestyle. You can access our Adoption Application by visiting our website at www.rottenrottie.com (
http://www.rottenrottie.com/), clicking on Adopt a Rottweiler -> Adoption Application, and submitting the form online. After reviewing your answers, if we feel the dog you are interested in is not a match for your family, we may recommend a different Rottweiler companion. Once we determine which dog is best for you, we will schedule a meeting at their current home, where they feel most comfortable and act naturally. We require a home check to ensure each dog is going to a safe environment. To finalize the process, an adoption contract must be signed. We also require a rehoming fee, which is typically $500 for most adults and $350 for seniors (6 years and older) or Rottweiler mixes of any age (excluding puppies). Fees for puppies fluctuate depending on the investment required for the litter and whether they are purebred or a mix. These funds are necessary for our organization to continue rehoming Rottweilers in need. All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and have tested negative for heartworms. Each dog comes with a collar and a leash. We also address any injuries or illnesses they had upon arrival or developed in foster care; any such conditions will be fully disclosed to the adopter prior to the adoption. Please Note: In almost all cases, we do not adopt to out-of-state applicants. On rare occasions, if we feel it is a PERFECT match for both you and the dog, we may make an exception for our neighbors in Las Vegas. If you live in Las Vegas and would like to be considered, please fill out our adoption application.
