Violet is a spunky, 1-year-old cat looking for her forever home! This beauty is a brown tabby girl with adorable orange "pants," little white mittens, and a whole lot to say! Violet has come an incredible way in foster care. When she first arrived, she was very frightened, and would bite or scratch when she felt threatened. Two months later, she has transformed! Violet now enjoys affection (even from strangers), gets along with her resident feline friend, and doesn't hurt anyone, even when they push her buttons. In a new home, she will likely need some time to settle in, but to help her with the transition the adopter can choose to continue her Prozac and Xanax prescriptions that helped her become more relaxed during fostering. (You may find that she only needs it for a short time as she settles in; that was the case in our home.)Violet is a playful cat and enjoys going after mouse toys (especially those with catnip!) and chasing her foster's resident cat. She is independent and can keep herself entertained, but genuinely enjoys being petted and often likes being picked up, too. Sometimes she'll act cranky about receiving attention, but switches to purring soon after! She will appreciate someone who enjoys her expressive, occasionally sassy ways, but who can also take the hint when she really does want some "me time". She also enjoys sitting on a perch and observing the goings-on of the house. Violet is a great roommate, who is respectful of your stuff and has excellent litterbox habits, although houseplants may occasionally be mistaken for snacks. (Her forever humans will want to make sure that any house plants are kitty-safe, just in case.)This pretty girl currently lives in a quiet apartment with two adults and a male 1 year old cat. At first she was overwhelmed by everyone and wanted her own space, but now she gets along with everybody and is comfortable with the daily life going on around her.Violet would prefer a quiet space with a space of her own for the first few weeks. While fostering her, we had great success with putting her in her own room with a baby gate so that she can have her personal bubble for as long as she needs, but can also feel stimulated and get used to the sights/sounds/smells of the household and the other cat.Her progress increased exponentially after we tried this! After a few weeks, she will be just fine with whatever daily activity goes on in the house. She is independent and happy to spend time without humans during the daytime, and could be a great fit for owners with an in-person 9-5 job. She should not be placed with dogs or young children, as they may be overwhelming and less attentive to her boundaries. However, she would love to have a friendly cat buddy who will playchase with her, but also respect her boundariesViolet will need extra patience and attention to boundaries for the first few weeks, but when she opens up, her affection will be all that much more rewarding :) She has already shown how much love and personality can shine through when a scared cat starts to feel safe. She's chatty, playful, affectionate, and a little spicy in the best way. Knowing how far Violet has come in her journey will make her love for her humans that much more meaningful. There is no guarantee of age and breed as a rescue animal's history is unknown.
