Sailor is a Cairn Terrier/Chinese Crested mix who is equal parts fun, playful, smart, and cuddly! This moderately high-energy girl loves just about everything life has to offer-toys, bones, treats, food, people, and especially being part of the pack.

Sailor can be a little cautious when she encounters something new, but once she realizes she's safe, she doesn't take long to warm up to her people. She is looking for a confident, playful canine companion who can show her the ropes and give her some good cues to follow. Having another dog in the home will help Sailor continue building her confidence, learning her manners, and adapting more quickly to new surroundings.

This girl has plenty of energy, so an active family who can give her plenty of opportunities to run, play, learn, and explore will be important. She loves a good game of fetch and having a canine buddy to engage in zoomies with. A securely fenced yard is a must for Sailor, as she is a bit of an escape artist and absolutely loves to run! She has discovered that an open door can be an invitation to adventure, so her family will need to be extra careful about securing doorways before opening them.

In true Terrier fashion, Sailor can be a little vocal, especially when responding to another vocal dog or something interesting outside. However, she is also extremely smart and food motivated, which has made training fun and rewarding. She is eager to learn, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement, training, and consistency in her forever home. She also loves car rides!

Sailor is crate trained and is very close to being fully potty trained, especially when she is kept on a consistent routine. She is great with kids who respect boundaries and loves being involved in whatever her people are doing. When the zoomies are over? She turns into the sweetest cuddle bug. She loves snuggling with her humans and soaking up the sunshine in a cozy spot.

Sailor is still learning that the world is a safe place and that good manners pay off, so patience, consistency, and continued guidance will be important for her. Give her the right outlet for all that energy, a confident canine friend to learn from, and a family willing to keep working with her, and you'll have a smart, playful little companion who is always ready for the next adventure-and then happy to curl up beside you when the day is done.

Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter's expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe.
