Meet Antonio, a handsome 9 month old Shepherd mix with a sleek black and tan coat, a playful personality, and a heart that is absolutely overflowing with love. Weighing 39 pounds, Antonio is the perfect medium-sized guy with medium energy and one very impressive party trick: he can jump a fence up to five feet high! Apparently, Antonio believes that fences are merely suggestions. So while he would love a yard to play in, his forever family will need to make sure it is securely fenced because this athletic boy has places to go, people to see, and absolutely no interest in letting a little fence stand between him and an adventure! His journey to rescue began on a road in Puerto Rico, where he was found as a stray and desperately in need of someone to care for him. Thankfully, a kind person came to his rescue and took him in before he made his way to a rescue organization. After such a difficult start, Antonio is ready to put his past behind him and begin the happy chapter he has been waiting for. That is a life filled with love, family, fun, and a cozy place to call home. And what a fun-loving companion he is! Antonio is friendly, playful, and always ready to make a new friend. He gets along wonderfully with children, cats, and other dogs, so he is happy to share his world with just about everyone. Whether he is romping around the yard, meeting new canine buddies at the park, joining you for an adventure around town, or taking a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood, Antonio is happiest when he is doing something with his people. He has plenty of enthusiasm for life and would make a wonderful companion for a family that enjoys getting out and about.Antonio is also working hard on becoming the best boy he can be. He knows the sit command, walks well on a leash, and has made good progress with his house and crate training. He will need a patient family willing to continue helping him learn, but Antonio is eager to please and responds well to gentle guidance, consistency, and encouragement. With a little time and a lot of love, he is sure to keep making great strides.Of course, all that jumping and adventuring can be tiring! Once Antonio has had his fun, he is more than happy to settle down and enjoy some quality relaxation time. A comfy bed, a cozy couch, and his favorite people nearby sound like a pretty perfect evening to him. After all, even a professional fence-jumper needs his beauty sleep!Life with Antonio would never be boring. He will keep you active, keep you laughing, and probably keep you checking the height of your backyard fence! But beneath all that playful energy is a sweet, affectionate dog who simply wants to belong to someone. Antonio has so much love to give and is ready to devote himself to a family who will cherish him, continue guiding him, and give him the secure and loving home he deserves.Could Antonio be your next great adventure buddy and your new best friend? If you are looking for a friendly, affectionate, playful dog who loves people, enjoys making friends, and has just a little bit of a rebellious streak when it comes to fences, Antonio might be the perfect match. Come meet this lovable, athletic guy and see if he can jump right into your heart. Just make sure he does not jump over the fence first!* Please keep in mind when considering adoption, dogs thrive on structure and routine.
