Meet Jafar & Captain Hook 🏴‍☠️🐾

Disney may have given them villain names, but these two little guys are much more scaredy-cat than scary!

Jafar & Captain Hook came to us as under socialized kittens who were very uncomfortable with people. Hissing, growling, hiding and trying to escape were their ways of saying, this is scary; please give me space. They've come a long way over 3 months.

Hook is the braver one with people, although you may not know it from his soundtrack. He'll come forward for treats, accept head and ear scritches, and has even fallen asleep enjoying them...while still growling. Apparently, the growl is both a warning system and, occasionally, his love language. 😹

Jafar is quieter, a bit flighty. He doesn't hiss or growl; those enormous, worried eyes appear and he's looking for somewhere to hide. But he's now coming forward for treats and, as trust grows, getting brave about returning after the kennel door opens.

In their kennel, when they think no one is watching, they're completely different kittens: chasing each other, playing with toys, snuggling and leaning on one another when they're scared. Hook will rest his head on Jafar to reassure him, and Jafar burrows into his brother for security. They even feel safer being carried together. 💛

These boys need a calm, adult-only home (responsible older teens okay) with someone who understands fearful or under socialized cats and knows progress happens on their timeline. A confident, cat-friendly resident cat may also help show them the ropes.

Treats, play, patience and consistency are already working. They don't need someone to make them brave. They need someone who will give them enough safety and time to discover that they already can be. 🐾
