Falcor takes Clonidine on an as needed basis for stressful situations, like vet visits. The cost is around $12 for a 30 count supply.
He also takes Fluoxetine daily for generalized anxiety about $35 for a 2 month supply.
To continue these medications you will need to schedule an appointment with your primary care veterinarian.

7/21/26 Foster Feedback: In June, Falcor celebrated his 4th birthday in style, sharing his birthday cake and playing with his new toys. We have been working on building his confidence by socializing outside the home more frequently. He is an outdoors kind of guy. In the right environments, he really enjoys pack walks and meeting new people while out on adventures. While he still needs slow introductions to new fur friends, he tends to enjoy the company of smaller dogs. Most recently we had two new foster puppies that Falcor responded really well to. We call Falcor "Gramps" because he let's them crawl all over him and tug on his fur while playing. He has been very tolerant of their shenanigans. Falcor likes spending his summer stoop watching on the deck and zooming around in the yard and taking time to splash around in his pool. In the evenings he likes to wind down by having a good chew on bones and cuddling on the couch. If you enjoy the slower paced life, napping, reading, and nice walks on a crisp autumn day, Falcor would be the perfect companion.
3/24/26 Foster Feedback: Falcor is a sweet, lanky Great Pyrenees mix who navigates life as a deaf dog, using a vibration collar as a gentle attention cue for recall and relying on routine and body language to feel secure. His vibration collar gives a soft, phone‑like buzz that lets Falcor know his person is trying to get his attention, even when he can't see them, and it pairs well with positive reinforcement. Falcor does best with smaller or female dogs, especially those with a naturally submissive temperament, and he benefits from slow, structured introductions. Falcor prefers to enjoy his meals and special treats in his own space, which helps him relax and prevents any stress around high‑value items. He's on medication for general anxiety, which supports his overall comfort. With clear boundaries and a calm environment, Falcor is a sensitive, loyal companion who truly wants to connect.
2/19/26 Foster Feedback: Falcor could give the Winter Olympics a run for their money, running speed laps through the fresh snow so fast he blends right in and could outlast the bravest of souls in the midwest January tundra. He loves to feel the wind in his fur and snow flakes on his nose. I think he is in cahoots with that dang groundhog. While he has the need for speed he isn't afraid to slow down and settle into a warm a cozy couch with his people.
On lazy days, Falcor enjoys chewing on a bone, napping or staying limber by wrestling with his roommate. He doesn't mind a routine, infact he thrives on it. Work days you can find him under my desk, keeping me on task, reminding me to take breaks and the importance of good snacks. While he is a working dog breed, keeping him busy with a puzzle or other enrichment games is important to him. He enjoys training and is eager to please. Recently he started learning muzzle training. Sometimes overwhelming things can be scary for Falcor like the vet or busy indoors areas. Muzzle training will help him stay comfortable while still being able to participate. We have also added a daily medication for anxiety, he doesn't particularly like his kennel and has a touch of separation anxiety once in there. He also has medication to help with situational events, like the vet, outside/indoors events and meeting new friends.
Falcor does really well with our resident dog and dogs we babysit, but will need very slow introductions to new dogs. Since he is deaf he can't always understand his surroundings so we take extra precautions to watch his interactions with other dogs and people. He enjoys playing with mindful children and loves the attention. He is the happiest with his people and will insist on more pets and making himself comfortable on your pillows. We have no doubt he'll thrive with patience and understanding of his needs. Falcor is really looking forward to hanging his gold metals in his new home.
10/26/25 Volunteer Feedback: Falcor had a fantastic day out with the Enrichment team today! Although he was a little nervous in the car at first, some tasty treats helped him relax. They explored MB Park, where he initially seemed unsure but soon perked up, sniffing around and enjoying the walk after a relaxing tailgate break to decompress. The handler did a great job responding to his anxious cues! Later, they visited the pond by Horizon Middle School, and Falcor practiced his listening skills, earning cheese rewards for good behavior around other people and dogs. Falcor finished the day with some sniffing in the yard, and a nice nap in the car on the way back. Falcor was snuggly and played with toys in the living room. A bit of excited barking at dogs and people was the only complaint, and he was easily redirected. Falcor is deaf, but did a great job responding when his hip was tapped by a finger. Overall, Falcor was a very good boy and seemed much more comfortable by the end of the day!
8/21/25 Foster Feedback: Falcor is attending his last class of 6 sessions tonight. Training has been going well. I believe he'll be enrolled in another session. He was approved for a vibrating collar that will assist with training. Overall, he is thriving, playing well, and getting used to his kennel. Falcor can be a bit jealous of my time with our resident dog and other foster, but we redirect him. He does have some resource guarding towards food, so we feed the dogs separately, and make sure all of them have a bone/toy or treat each. He can be a bit mouthy, I think; mainly, it's his way of getting our attention. It is getting less and less of an issue since training. Falcor has done well with children at events, but probably best with mindful children. He is a medium-sized ball of energy. Falcor loves to race, chase, and wrestle with our resident dog. He'll sniff every inch of our yard, lie out in the grass with the wind in his fur and the sun on his face. Every morning, I'm greeted with a happy face ready for the day. His eyes will surely hypnotize you into falling for him.
7/24/25 Foster Feedback: Falcor may not be able to hear, but he's all smiles, and his gorgeous eyes are sure to melt your heart. He starts his day off with scritches on his face, ears, and a hug. He loves affection, pets, kisses, cuddles, and has the softest fur. Falcor is on week two of a six-week training class and doing amazing. We are working on sit, stay, mat, greeting friends with all 4 paws on the floor, and leave it. We practice daily to keep him fresh while learning these new skills. We are kennel training Falcor for 5-6 hrs during the day. He doesn't love it but settles down in 10-15 minutes. Falcor startles easily, so we approach his kennel softly when letting him out. He does sleep in his kennel overnight. Falcor has tons of energy and likes to play tug and Frisbee. He plays well with our 10-month-old puppy and our other foster pup. He will need slow introductions with other dogs. Overall, he is one happy dude looking for his special family.

Falcor is Lyme & Anaplasmosis positive. These are tick-borne illnesses, and he is currently being treated with Doxycycline.
