Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of December 2025 SEX: Male

Approximate Weight: 50 lbs
Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!
Currently Living at: DC area foster home

Hugo is Looking For: His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this sweetie landed in the shelter. He's not long out of puppyhood and is eager to have his humans for long sniffy walks, romps in parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! And he'd love to make pup and people pals along the way. Quality kibble, cushy dog bed, chew dog toys - yes, please, to all those.

But above all he wants to be safe and loved, to know where he belongs - and upon whom to bestow all those happy tail wags, to whom to pledge loyal companionship. Is that going to be you? Is he the one you see by your side?
What My Foster Says About Me: This dog has been a happy, enthusiastic companion since the moment I picked him up. He's energetic and smart, so he really benefits from a mix of physical exercise and mental stimulation. When he's unsure what to do, he may whine a bit, but overall he's been a quiet dog.
Out in public, he's friendly and curious. He may pull toward people because he wants to say hello, but with a bit more training he'll be very manageable. He's food‑motivated, knows basic commands, and takes treats SO gently. He may jump up when excited, but he does it with love. He loves his people, and hates to see them leave. He also loves every dog he meets (whether they love him back or not - he is completely unbothered).
He doesn't love going into the crate, but once inside he settles quickly. He slept through the night without a sound. During the day, he may cry for a couple of minutes before calming down.
He'll do well with someone who enjoys training and wants an affectionate, energetic companion.
Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken. All of our dogs are working on their crate training.
