About Mouse
Abandoned Pet Rescue
ShelterAbandoned Pet Rescue (APR) is one of the largest no-kill animal shelters in South Florida. Since our founding in 1996, we have provided comprehensive care and helped more than 10,000 pets find loving homes.
APR began as a small group of volunteers focused on trapping, spaying and neutering feral cats. Recognizing the need to help abandoned pets, we expanded into the full-service rescue we are today, housing up to 100 cats and 35 dogs.
Adoption Process
View our adoptable pets. Consider pets that are a good fit for your home, family & lifestyle.
2. Complete An Adoption Application
Once we receive your application, an APR team member will reach out within 5 days to qualified applicants to schedule a personalized meet and greet with the pets that best suit your home. You must be 21 years old to adopt. APR takes multiple applications to best match pets and families.
3. Meet & Greet
At the meet and greet, our adoption counselor will spend time with you and your family discussing your pet preferences and introduce you to the pet you applied for plus any others who could be a great fit. If you have another dog in the home, APR’s trained staff will help introduce the dogs to ensure they are compatible as well as offer tips on helping new pets settle into their new home.
4. Adoption Day
Once your adoption application is approved, we will coordinate with you to choose the perfect day to bring your new best friend home. This moment marks the start of a wonderful journey filled with love and companionship. We’re here to support you as you prepare to welcome your new furry family member.
