Update 9/14: Mercury has been added to our Call to Action List due to high levels of arousal and stress that has resulted in incidents such as biting and tugging the leash, jumping toward handlers’ faces during high arousal, and redirection toward the handler during over-arousal/aggression toward dogs. At times, staff/volunteers have had difficulty safely leashing, moving, or returning her to her kennel. Her behaviors indicate significant ongoing stress and has been given medication intermittently throughout her stay, which started in December 2025 with a two month adoption this summer. She needs placement outside of the shelter with foster, adopter, or rescue! Note from Mercury's foster stay earlier this year read: `Mercury has been a fun and easy girl here at the shelter, who enjoyed meeting new people at adoption events and has done well mingling in shelter playgroup with other dogs. She's buddies with her foster parent's four year old niece, enjoyed meeting new people in public and is described as very gentle!`We are hopeful that, in the right home, Mercury can decompress and be an amazing companion with some support and management from a loving family!
