Lady is truly that - a lady! She is a sweet, gentle, easygoing, and laid-back Great Pyrenees who is respectful and dignified while still being charming and charismatic. She is housebroken, leash trained, and has a low activity level with occasional medium-energy bursts. She does not dig, and prefers to be inside and, more than anything, just wants to be wherever her people are - or, if her people aren't available, with her pack.
Lady is wonderful with animals and people alike. She lives happily with both male and female dogs and is even great with the visiting 6-pound female Pomeranian! She loves playing with the other dogs and will bow to invite them to play. She is also very chill with the resident indoor cat, whom she loves to snuggle with and occasionally play with, and she is completely non-reactive to the neighbor's outdoor cat. Lady is very friendly with everyone she meets, including young children. She has had plenty of opportunities to meet new people as company visits frequently. She is especially wonderful with the foster's two granddaughters, ages 3 years, and 10 months, and is incredibly gentle with them.
Lady has so many adorable little quirks that make her special. She loves a comfy bed and happily rolls over for belly rubs. She is a wonderfully relaxed eater - so relaxed that she often lies down while eating! When she sits, she crosses one paw over the other like a true lady. She has a favorite stuffed squirrel that she loves to toss around the house, but she is also thoughtful enough to offer it to the other dogs for a game. She enjoys toys, car rides, looking out the window, and sunbathing on the screened-in porch or patio. She barks less than the average Pyr, and she is generally a very easygoing companion.
Lady would love a home where someone is around more often than not and can give her the love, companionship, and attention she deserves. She could do well as an only dog with a devoted human, but we think she would be happiest as part of a pack. A home with a 4-foot fenced yard would be wonderful, although she could also be perfectly happy as a leash-walk-only dog. Above all, Lady wants to be near her people and be part of the family. Lady is the sweetest little love bug, and she has such a special way of making everyone around her feel loved. She is gentle, respectful, playful, affectionate, and wonderfully dignified. She really is a lady in every sense of the word - and she is ready to find the people she can love forever.

NYS Registered Non-Profit Rescue # RR102. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn't end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog.
Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant's ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
