Left Eye | 8-Year-Old Collie/Shepherd Mix | Sweet, Gentle Companion
Left Eye is an 8-year-old Collie/Shepherd mix weighing about 29 pounds with a beautiful black-and-white coat and a calm, gentle personality. She's a quiet, sweet girl who loves a peaceful lifestyle, cozy naps, and having her person nearby.
She's house trained and very easygoing in the home. Left Eye is perfectly happy curling up in her bed most of the day. She enjoys short walks around the block but has no interest in long adventures - once she realizes she's headed home, she's ready to get back to her favorite resting spot.
Left Eye has calm interactions with other dogs and mostly ignores them. She'd likely do best with calm, easygoing dogs or, even better, as the only dog so she can soak up all the love and attention for herself!
She is not a good match for homes with cats, as she has shown a tendency to chase and lunge at them.
Left Eye can be shy at first, especially with men, but with a little patience she warms up into a gentle, affectionate companion who loves belly rubs and quiet time with her people. She also has a playful side and loves soft squeaky toys, often carrying them around the house and taking them to bed.
Left Eye does experience separation anxiety and will howl when left alone, so she is not well suited for apartment living. She'd be happiest in a home where someone is around more often than not to keep her company.
Left Eye has some ongoing medical needs and will require medication and regular veterinary care, but she doesn't let that slow her down one bit! She recently had cancerous tumors removed and is currently on chemotherapy medication, which she will need for at least a year. Regular checkups will be important to monitor her progress and watch for any recurrence.
ARR will cover her chemotherapy medications for six months following adoption and will also sponsor her adoption fee.
Left Eye has been through a lot, and now she's looking for someone who will be there for her through this next chapter. She doesn't ask for much - just love, patience, and a comfortable place to nap - and in return, she'll give you a whole lot of sweet companionship and a devoted heart.
If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.
The adoption fee for this pet is $125. Our adoption fee covers the following:
Spay/neuter
Microchip
DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.
Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption.
