Let's talk about a pretty cool dog who deserves a pretty cool family.

Rue-our sweet RueBee-came into rescue as a stray with a severe skin infection. Her first weeks were hard. Treatment was intense, and when the standard protocols didn't work, her care team kept digging for answers. After specialist review and more support, RueBee was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disorder called Canine Familial Dermatomyositis-an inflammatory disease that can affect the skin, muscles, and blood vessels. It isn't curable, but it is manageable, and the prognosis can vary widely.

If you're still reading, you're probably thinking: that sounds scary. And honestly-it can be. This condition can mean trial and error, frequent check-ins, and days when you don't get a neat, predictable answer.

So why would anyone choose her?

Because RueBee is more than her diagnosis.

Despite the unknowns, she is pure heart. RueBee connects with people almost instantly. She's the kind of puppy who quietly decides you're her person and then makes sure you never feel alone again. She can spend hours in the shade with her foster mom, watching birds at the feeder like it's the best show on earth. She gets the zoomies and chases herself around the house-so silly it's impossible not to laugh. She loves cheese, loves being close, and loves being part of whatever you're doing.

She's gentle and steady-always with you, but never demanding. She'll sleep at your feet, follow you room to room, and check in just to be sure she hasn't been left behind. She's a true friend, a real trooper, and somehow, in the middle of all of this, she still chooses joy.

Her foster mom daydreams about a life for RueBee with someone who truly understands the act of caregiving as a kind of love. Someone who's home often, who wants a companion, and who finds meaning in the small moments-bird-watching, sharing a little cheese, and simply being together. RueBee will give you the best parts of herself: tail wags, play bows, pounces, and that quiet trust that feels like an honor to earn. She'll love you deeply-and in her own way, she'll take care of you, too.

RueBee isn't an "easy" dog-and we want to be honest about that. Sometimes she's scaly or flaky. She may have occasional bleeds. She'll need thoughtful management to avoid inflammation triggers and to reduce risks associated with immunosuppression. And like many adolescent strays, she's still learning how to dog.

But she is also remarkable-one of those dogs who quietly changes the way you see the world. RueBee is a daily reminder of empathy, patience, and love in action.

I'm part of Pawfect Match's Special Care & Rehabilitation Program. My journey is a little different than most.
