Boots is fostered in Waukesha, WI.
Bootsy Boots is a energetic 1 year old Australian Shepherd looking for an
active household. Boots came to me last year recovering from a broken leg at about 4 months old and was living his best with a new home.
Boots has recovered very nicely from the broken leg. However he has major herding tendencies and nipped someone in the butt (no blood drawn). Unfortunately the place she lived told her she had to get rid of him.
Boots is a herding dog and will be triggered by fast movements and can be alerting (barks) at some men/unannounced visitors. When in his kennel, he is super protective when dogs/people walk by. Once corrected, he stops. We have and will continue to work on these things, and each day improves.
Boots is super sweet boy. He LOVES snuggles! His favorite spot to sleep at night is with you. He enjoys playing with my 2 dogs. He could play with other dogs for hours with all the energy he has. He also loves walks or runs!
Boots gets along with my cat and chickens and my 3 year old son. He is super smart and learned to shake in only a few days. Boots knows basic commands and is crate trained. He LOVES elk antlers to chew on while I am away. Typically I am gone anywhere from 5-8 hours a day and he doesn't have a problem being crated while I'm gone.
He enjoys baths and stands while being groomed/nail trimming. Boots really is a great dog, and is a looking for a home that:
• Has herding dog or similar experience and be confident in meeting Boots needs
•Will continue work on/keep up with his training and building his confidence. And provide mental stimulation
•Introductions to new people must be slow and monitored
•Who is active and is looking for a dog who wants to be with you in everything you do
