  • Adoption Process:

Please go to www.blackjackrescue.org and fill out an application under adopt menu. We have dogs placed in foster homes in many states including Indiana, Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and Connecticut. Our adoption fee helps to cover the costs associated with rescuing and vetting. Once your application is received, we will check references and call you to schedule a meet & greet or home visit. Depending on your location, the home visit may need to be completed by a rescue organization that is local to you. Once approved to adopt, pickup or third-party transport will be arranged for your new family member. It is our preference that you are able to personally meet the dog prior to adopting. We do not have a physical structure, but we have dedicated foster homes in many states. Please have your application completed in order to schedule the home visit or meet and greet.
  • Mission Statement:

Blackjack Animal Rescue & Catahoula Connection is a 501c3 organization. Our primary mission is to rescue catahoulas, catahoula mixes, and other breeds from kill shelters in the southeast. We rescue over 150 dogs per year from animal shelters or less than ideal living conditions. Our annual budget makes the following possible: rescuing the dog from the shelter, initial vetting of the dog, transport to a foster home or boarding kennel, and receiving routine and emergency care to ensure the dog will be adoptable. If the dog tests positive for heart worms, we ensure the dog gets treatment which can cost $600 - $1000. Once placed in a foster home, we observe the dog’s overall demeanor and personality to optimize compatibility with an adopter’s existing pets and family. We are advocates for catahoulas, catahoula mixes, and other needy shelter animals throughout the southeast, including Texas and Louisiana. We are always in need of foster homes as we do
