Walter is currently in a foster home in Windham, Maine and is eligible for meet & greets!

Meet Walter!

Walter is a 1 and a half year old Cattle dog / border collie mix. Walter is fully vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and currently weighs about 55 pounds. While Walter is in a loving foster home, he is ready to find his forever home!

Walter is extremely dog friendly! Walter currently lives with 3 other dogs (2 females & 1 male) and gets along great with everyone! He has attended doggie daycare and is always great and loves playing with his doggie friends. We would say that Walter has a medium - high energy level. Due to his age, he still has some puppy energy.

Walter has met cats and while he's not aggressive, he's very interested. We would suggest a home without cats.

Walter is kid friendly! Walter previously lived with a 4 year old child and was always very sweet towards her. Although he doesn't live with children currently, he's always so friendly and gentle towards children. Due to his playful nature, we would suggest children ages 10+.

Walter walks great on a leash! He does get excited when he sees squirrel, but he's mastered the "heel" command and is such a fast learner.

Walter is fully potty trained and even goes and sits by the back door to let his foster mom know he needs to go outside. Walter isn't a huge fan of the crate, but he does great if left to free roam! He just relaxes on the couch and waits for his foster mom to return home. He will go into the crate and settles eventually.

Walter would love another dog in the home to keep him company! He really enjoys doggie companionship and playing. Walter would also love a fully fenced in back yard OR an active family who will take him out on adventures. He's SO well behaved in public and at adoption events. He would make for a great hiking / adventure buddy.

I absolutely adore Walter! Walter is a loveable, social dog who is ready to become someone's perfect companion! He is the kind of dog who will instantly win you over with his friendly personality and soft, cuddly fur. He has a deep love for people and really enjoys being close to you. He is playful, eager to learn and just wants to please his people! He has the softest fur and goofy, floppy ears. He is great with everyone he meets and truly doesn't know the meaning of the word stranger. He LOVES his fruits and veggies too! Some of his favorite snacks include carrots, cucumbers, blueberries and apples. He knows: Place, Sit, Down, Touch, Off and Leave it. He has been to obstacle courses and is great at them! He is food motivated and easy to train. He loves car rides and we always make sure he wears his "seatbelt" but he is quiet and calm in the car. If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and affectionate dog to join your family, Walter might just be your perfect match!
