Adopting a rescue dog like Tol means committing to her growth and comfort. She is not a toy—she’s a young dog with feelings, a past, and the potential to flourish in the right home. Her behavior may change as she adjusts to a new environment. The 3-3-3 rule (3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to settle in, 3 months to feel home) applies. We’re looking for adopters who are patient, responsible, and willing to learn and support her needs.
About Tol
Tol was one of 19 puppies found abandoned in a box and brought to a high-kill municipal shelter in Hongseong, South Korea. Since rescue, she’s grown into a loving, playful, and smart pup in foster care. She’s crate-trained, affectionate, and always ready to learn—with lots of energy and a heart full of curiosity.
Personality & Temperament
• People: Shy at first but affectionate once trust is built. She loves attention from calm, patient women and has warmed up to some men, especially outdoors or when given space.
• Children: Some barking toward young kids (under 2nd grade age); best suited for homes with older or no children.
• Dogs: Loves meeting small dogs, gets excited and wants to play. Limited exposure to large dogs but has been polite during greetings.
• Cats/Wildlife: Will bark and try to chase cats or birds outside. Needs supervision.
Training & Behavior
• Potty Training: 80% pad trained; working toward full outdoor training.
• Commands: Knows sit, down, paw, nose, “house” (crate). Occasionally confused, but tries hard!
• Separation: Had early signs of separation anxiety that have improved with a routine.
• Crate: Fully crate-trained—goes in on command and sleeps there at night.
• Leash Walking: Pulls when excited; manageable with guidance.
• Car Rides: Whines briefly, then settles. No motion sickness.
• Barking: Barks at hallway sounds or when excited, but not excessive.
• Destruction: Rare—may chew socks or soft objects if bored.
• Bathing/Grooming: Nervous during baths and foot washes, dislikes hair dryers but tolerates towel drying. Loves tooth brushing!
Daily Routine (Example from Foster Home)
• Morning (9:00 AM): Breakfast + potty
• Afternoon (4–5 PM): 30–40 minute walk
• Evening (6:00 PM): Dinner
• Night (11:00 PM): Teeth brushing + potty
• Midnight: Bedtime in crate
• Alone time 2.5–4.5 hrs on some weekdays—does well
Health & Wellness
• Recovery: Healing well from patella luxation surgery
• Other Health: Occasionally coughs lightly at night (reverse sneezing)
• No known allergies
• Current Diet: Beef & Salmon based high-quality dry food
• Favorite Treats: Boiled egg, chicken, sweet potato, fruits and veggies
• Preventatives: Nexgard Spectra (last given May 1, 2025)
Play & Personality Favorites
• Loves: Tug games, squeaky toys, being chased
• Best Toy: Small shark plush
• Training Style: Learns well through gentle repetition and positive reinforcement
Ideal Home
Tol will thrive in a home that:
• Understands the 3-3-3 rule and is committed to a gradual adjustment
• Has someone home most of the time or a consistent schedule
• Is patient and willing to continue training and socialization
• Has no very young children
• Welcomes small, active dogs (multi-dog homes okay!)
• Uses positive reinforcement and is willing to seek professional help if needed
• Follows all safety protocols, including crate use, leash safety, and secure environments
