  • Adoption Process:

Adoption Policies: 1)We require that you meet with the animal you are interested in adopting before you submit an application. If you are interested in pre-approval, please let the receptionist know. 2) Your application must be completed and signed in order to start the Approval Process. We will be accepting multiple applications per pet. The approved adopter(s) will be chosen by our supervising staff. 3) Our Application Process now requires an extensive vet reference and/or personal reference for approval. 4) We must see proof of your pet’s current rabies vaccination before we will start the Meet & Greet Process. 5) Once you submit your Adoption Application, the approval may take up to 48 hours. We will call you with the status of your application. During the call we will provide additional information you need in regards to your adoption process. We reserve the right to deny any application submitted. **** Our Adoption Application Policy helps us place the animals in our care into the homes that would be best for them. The SPCA requires a personal reference, and a vet reference for those who already have pets at home. Landlord approval for all renters (copy of lease and/or verbal landlord approval) is required plus certain Homeowner Association’s requirements. Certain dog breeds may require a fenced yard and home-check (e.g. Pitbulls, Rottweilers, Dobermans, etc). The Fauquier SPCA has a moral obligation to ensure that all animals are adopted as companion pets, and the SPCA has adoption counselors to help each and every adopter find their perfect match.
  • Mission Statement:

The Fauquier SPCA is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing a temporary refuge for stray, homeless and abandoned animals, and to placing such animals in a caring, appropriate home whenever possible. Educating the public about the benefits of spaying and neutering is also an extremely important part of our mission.
