Description

Beautiful Andy is a fun and happy Basenji mix who weighs 40-45 pounds and he doesn't shed!!!! He's a very sweet boy who loves to play and hang out with his peeps. He's just one year old and is super smart. You can see his beautiful coat and curled tail in his photos. He gets along great with adults and children and loves to play with other dogs too. He loves being part of the action and give him a chaise lounge in the sun and he's in heaven! Andy is living with a great Foster Mom who says: "Andy is a lovable guy who is bursting with personality and affection! He absolutely adores people and gets along great with my dog so he's a wonderful companion. He's a very smart and eager learner and is mastering his good manners and how to be a gentleman! :) I think he'd love a fenced in backyard where he could stretch his legs and play to his heart's content. Oh, and his super power is that he doesn't really shed which is great. He'll so much fun and happiness to his new family's life!" Andy is totally healthy and up to date on all his vaccinations. He's house-trained and crate trained too! Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue ([email protected]) to get more info on this sweet guy!

  • Adoption Process:

Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
