Description

Maple Oats was found as a stray on the streets of NYC by the police and brought to the New York Animal Care Centers - the NYC municipal shelter.

He was doing well at the shelter but developed anxiety, as to be expected and was marked as "RESCUE. ONLY". He was then scheduled for euthanasia but a wonderful woman stepped up to save his life. She rehabbed him and worked with him and now he's ready for his forever home.

Meet Maple Oats: Your New Best Friend

Maple Oats is a vivacious puppy at heart, curious about the world around him, bounces through an open backyard like a gazelle and LOVES snow! He might even love snow as much as he loves cheese! Like a growing, learning baby, Maple Oats explores and learns about the world around him through his mouth and by smell. He's always up for play and is learning to enjoy longer walks on the leash. Maple's energy and continued learning of manners and obedience would make him absolutely wonderful for a home without children or other pets. Maple Oats deserves to be front and center with all of the attention. He's very curious of other dogs, but is still learning appropriate play with other pups, he can be overly excited when playing with others. He's tiny, but mighty! He's a fast, strong boy, enjoys his chewie bones and is VERY food motivated! He's also a little snore-a-sourous and makes his foster parents giggle with his sonar ears and his curiosity in all new things.

It's encouraged that Maple Oats' forever home has loving, patient parents with previous dog and/or training experience. Maple Oats is crate trained, continues to learn commands and is decreasing in anxious behaviors on walks. Maple Oats will make a wonderful addition to a loving home where his spunky, vivacious, curious personality will be matched.

  • Mission Statement:

Pound Hounds Res-q is a 5013c NYC based animal rescue that is devoted to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals that come through the NYC Animal Care and Control shelter and other local shelters and places them into forever loving foster and adoptive homes. Pound Hounds Res-Q believes that every animal deserves a loving home. How that happens takes lots of work. We try to pair the animal with the best possible foster or adopter home available. We take into consideration the initial behavior evaluation and the volunteers evaluation. We also consider the animal's environment at the shelter. It's not science, but it helps us pair us the best possible pets/people. Furthermore, we then look at the family dynamics. Are they active, are they quite, etc. This gives us a better prospective of what animals would be right for them and their lifestyle. We look at the total environment, kids, other pets etc. It's not perfect, but it helps enormously in placing every animal with the right family. It's truly a challenge, but it's something that we don't take lightly. It's a big effort but so rewarding in the long run. We do not have a facility but rather rely on a network of committed loving foster homes that see these animals through to adoption. It is a selfless act and every single one of our fosters help us save another precious life.
