Description

Meet Bart! Born March 2022, he is a male Blackmouth Cur mix (best guess on breed). This sweet boy had an accident and found himself needing a rear leg amputation. His family couldn’t take care of him and so he ended up with Mikeys Chance.

Bart is crate trained and housebroken. He’s a great snuggle companion-although he doesn’t always realize his size! ?
His favorite thing in life is to be as close to his people as possible - if you adopt Bart, you will NEVER be alone again.

& three legs do not slow this guy down - he loves to explore outside, go for leisurely walks, or lounge in a backyard. Bart also gets along with other dogs (but males should be on the submissive side), but we do not recommend cats.

Bart’s best fit home would be one with minimal to no stairs to keep stress low on him remaining legs, & we always recommend, if there are children in the home, children be over age 5 because they can better understand how to be respectful of dogs. He will also require a securely fenced yard.

If you or anyone you know is looking for a forever companion Bart may be your boy! Applications to foster or adopt: www.mikeyschance.com

  • Adoption Process:

If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please visit Mikeyschance.com to find out about our adoption procedures. We do not have a central facility where you can meet our dogs, because they are in foster homes. Once you have been approved to adopt a dog we will gladly arrange for you to meet any dogs that are potentially a good fit for your home. We carefully review each application and place dogs based on a variety of criteria. Ultimately, we will always act in the best interest of the dog. We will conduct a background check on each adult living in the home. We will contact your vet. Mikey’s Chance also conducts home-checks to assure the best possible placement of all our rescue animals. PLEASE NOTE: It is our policy to only adopt to homes where the current pets: Are up to date on vaccinations; Have been either spayed or neutered; and Have received routine veterinary care. Applications that do not meet this policy shall be denied.
  • Mission Statement:

Our goal is to find the best possible match between dog and human. We believe the best way to do this is by openly sharing information. We disclose everything we know about our dogs, and in return we seek to know everything relevant about our adopters. Our thorough, painstaking adoption process ensures that when our dogs go home, it really is forever. Mikey's Chance is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue organization based in the Tri-Cities, Eastern Washington. We help dogs in need within our community, responding to appeals for help from private individuals, other rescuers, animal control authorities, and veterinarians. All our dogs live in foster homes, where they are loved, socialized, cared for, and taught how to live as integrated members of a family. Most of our foster homes are in the Tri-Cities and Greater Seattle areas, but we place dogs in homes throughout the Pacific Northwest. Our dogs are sterilized, treated for parasites, micro-chipped and fully vaccinated prior to adoption. Many also receive other urgent vet care.
