Description

Bruno is a very handsome boy who has matured into a hunk of a guy. He's approximately 3 to 4 yrs old and has a charming, sweet personality. He does well with lots of exercise, a routine he can count on, and clear, consistent expectations. His home must be experienced with Rottweilers or large, working dogs similar to this breed. He is protective of his things and while he doesn't like to share, Bruno has a lot of love to give to someone who understands and respects his boundaries. Read on to find out more about him!

Bruno needs a savvy home who can offer fun experiences, both mental and physical, and who understands the benefits of being proactive in managing his environment. He requires an adopter with no children as his protective nature will kick in if put in a position of believing he needs to compete for a treasured item. Children tend to be impulsive rather than proactive thinkers and we wouldn't want to chance a mistake. Bruno has been working with a trainer who has routinized the management of the protectiveness. These are simple, common-sense methods that have proven to be successful and that Bruno is both comfortable with and respects. The product is a relaxed, sweet boy.

Bruno has actually completed the training program but is remaining with the trainer to continue reinforcement of what he has learned. He enjoys his time there and participates in the many activities offered. In the program, he does well engaging with other dogs, as well as coexisting on group walks no matter who is on the other end of the leash.

So, while Bruno does not like to share his food and toys, it can be managed. Being proactive and consistent are the keys and his trainer would demonstrate how to successfully handle this behavior using the exact methods Bruno expects and follows daily. He has not had any incidents at the trainer's once he realized he could trust the humans in his first weeks there.

We are optimistic that there is a dedicated home who is willing to work with Bruno and will recognize and value all his positives. For example, Bruno sits and waits until given permission to eat his meal, he walks beautifully on leash, he is receptive to whichever human he is with and will solicit affection and head rubs, he enjoys the role of being a companion to his human... it all just revolves around proactive management.

Even though Bruno is social with other dogs, we are asking for a home with no other dogs. This is because in a home it is expected there will be toys and objects of interest laying around that could lead to a skirmish. There are no toys out when he socializes with the other dogs at the trainer.

  • Mission Statement:

Kodi’s Club Rescue firmly believes that we can make a difference to those rescues we take into our care and we strive daily to do whatever is in our power and abilities to accomplish that goal. We are a small organization comprised of a passionate and dedicated group of friends that responsibly rescues and finds homes for homeless, sick or abandoned dogs. Our mission is to urge the public to support the rescue effort rather than retailers, puppy mills or breeders. Kodi’s Club rescues dogs from states across the country including Georgia, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, and West Virginia. Our rescue effort starts with the administration of veterinary care and progresses through foster care, private boarding, or commercial/training boarding, small adoption events, home screening and ultimately permanent placement. We provide post-adoption follow-up and support when requested and possible. It is our goal to never have one of this organization’s rescues return to the shelter system or in a home that does not provide a responsible, nurturing environment for the lifetime of the pet. Kodi’s Club volunteers ensure that all dogs receive proper medical care, (including neutering/spaying, worming, microchipping, heartworm/lyme testing and vaccinations) and their members either provide temporary foster homes or paid boarding options until a permanent, responsible home can be found. From puppies to seniors, including those who need a little extra TLC for broken legs, skin conditions, pneumonia, or various other conditions, dogs are nurtured back to health, safe from the unfair hardships that life has dealt them. As many of the dogs come from high kill municipal shelters, Kodi’s Club is truly their last chance for the life. Prior to adoption, our dogs are evaluated for health and temperament. In instances of severe or dangerous behaviors, there may be some cases in which humane euthanasia is necessary. This option is rare, and not taken lightly as our purpose is to save lives. All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to placement unless it is not safe due to a medical condition. This is also rare, and surgery is administered and paid for by the rescue at the point that the animal is healthy. Our dogs are microchipped prior to adoption. Prospective homes are carefully evaluated for our dogs to capitalize on their ability to successfully adapt into a new home. Our foster homes socialize the dogs as well as work with them on basic obedience. Kodi’s Club requires a written agreement at the point of adoption which states that if the adopter is unable to keep their rescued dog, for any reason, the dog must be returned to us. Our dogs may not be relinquished to any person for the purpose of medical research, guard dogs, or resale and are solely for indoor, companion animals. We would like to sincerely thank those individuals and families who have adopted our rescued animals. Your donations allow us to help more animals. We cannot do it alone. Every single donation is greatly appreciated and most definitely matters to the life of a dog that more than deserves your generosity and support. Donations are our sole financial source and are non-refundable.
