Meet Cavatappi!

Cavatappi is an adorable young guinea pig with a calm, gentle nature. He may take a little time to warm up to new people, but once he feels safe, his curious and affectionate side begins to shine. Whether he's munching on his favorite veggies, exploring his habitat, or relaxing in a cozy hideout, Cavatappi is happiest when he feels comfortable and secure.

Cavatappi shares his home with his brother, Macaroni, and the pair are inseparable. They love zooming around their enclosure together, investigating every corner, and curling up side by side for well-earned naps! Their playful bond is heartwarming to watch, and they'd love to find a family willing to welcome both brothers into their forever home.

Guinea pigs have a vegan diet that consists mainly of high-quality Timothy hay, supplemented with 1/8 cup of hay-based pellets each day. They also need 1 cup of fresh vegetables daily, including romaine, green and red leaf lettuce, escarole, parsley, dill, and bell peppers. Because guinea pigs cannot produce their own Vitamin C, they also require a daily Vitamin C supplement.

Guinea pigs are social animals and should be housed with or near at least one other guinea pig of the same sex. They need a solid-bottom enclosure with a minimum of 7.5 square feet of living space (approximately 2' x 4'), with plenty of room for food, water, enrichment, and cozy hiding places.

Our shelter is open Tuesday through Sunday from 12-4 (closed Mondays).
