Meet Amanda

This sweet island girl is continuing to settle into foster care and showing everyone what a gentle, loving companion she is.

Amanda is 1 year old, about 20 lbs, spayed, and current on vaccines. Like many dogs arriving from Puerto Rico, she needed a little time to decompress and feel safe in her new surroundings. Within about a day, she started seeking out affection on her own and now happily comes over for pets and attention.

She's doing wonderfully with her foster brother Arthur. The two play nicely together, relax side by side, and share space, water bowls, beds, and toys without issue. Amanda has shown no food aggression or resource guarding and has a very sweet nature with other dogs.

Amanda is still learning about leash walks, new sounds, routines, and all the sights and noises that come with life in a home. She can be a little barky when she hears or sees unfamiliar things, like ceiling fans, dog statues, and TV, but she redirects well and settles quickly once reassured. Apartment life has been manageable, though a home with a yard where she can explore and build confidence at her own pace would likely help her thrive.

She's doing well going potty outside, though she likes to take her time sniffing and figuring everything out first. Amanda is a sensitive, thoughtful girl who just needs a patient family willing to let her continue blossoming at her own pace. In return, she will reward you with sweetness, companionship, and quiet loyalty
