Working Cats

Working or Barn cats are independent, outdoor-loving felines who typically prefer a life of minimal human interaction. While they share many physical traits with domestic cats, their behavior is a bit different, with varying degrees of comfort around people. These cats might warm up to their regular feeder over time, but they're unlikely to become lap cats or seek out constant affection. Instead, they tend to bond with a limited number of people who are part of their routine environment. They thrive in open, outdoor spaces where they can roam freely, and they excel at natural rodent and insect control.

Working/barn cats could make good office/warehouse/auto repair shop, cats as well (semi-indoor spaces). Ranches, farms, bed-n-breakfast, wineries, vineyards, hotels, dairies, rural personal residences, and sanctuaries are also appropriate environments for these cats.

As long as they have freedom to roam as they like, they could gravitate toward indoor work spaces as well. It depends on the cat.

Though barn cats are low-maintenance and incredibly helpful in keeping pests at bay, they do require daily care. They need daily food and water, as they can't survive solely on what they catch.

Providing them with a safe, sheltered space for rest and to escape predators, especially at night, is also crucial.

In return, these cats bring charm and energy to your outside environments while taking care of some of your farm or property's natural pest problems.

By placing them in a setting where they are safe and cared for and can run free, you are giving them the best home possible.

These cats come spay/neutered, vaccinated with at least one round of fvrcp and rabies vaccines, and ear tipped. They may also be microchipped. They come as males and females, and of various ages, but likely will be around 1-3 years old.

A completed application and a donation of $25/cat will apply. Adopting a minimum of 2 cats is requested unless otherwise arranged.

Secure confinement where they can see the people and happenings on the property for the first 30-45 days is required for the safety of these cats.
