❤️ Personality, Breed Information & Gala's Story
Gala's life began with more challenges than any puppy should ever have to face.
She was abandoned at a young age and left to survive on her own without food, shelter, or anyone to protect her. Fortunately, compassionate rescuers found her and gave her the second chance she desperately needed.
Not long after arriving in rescue, Gala was diagnosed with canine distemper, a serious illness that many puppies don't survive. Through dedicated veterinary care, proper treatment, and her incredible determination, Gala fought through every obstacle and made a remarkable recovery. Today, she's a healthy, happy distemper survivor who is ready to start the next chapter of her life.
Gala is a bright, affectionate puppy with a playful personality that shines a little more every day. She loves chasing toys, exploring new places, playing with other dogs, and spending time with the people she loves. She's curious, friendly, and always excited to discover something new before happily curling up beside you for a nap.
As a Black Labrador Retriever / Terrier Mix, Gala is expected to grow into an intelligent, loyal, and active companion. Labrador Retrievers are known for their gentle, family-oriented personalities and eagerness to please, while Terriers contribute confidence, curiosity, and playful energy. Together, these breeds create a wonderful companion for an active family looking for a lifelong best friend.
Gala would thrive in a home that offers:
Plenty of love and companionship
Daily walks and age-appropriate exercise
Positive reinforcement training
Interactive toys and mental enrichment
Continued socialization with people and other dogs
A consistent daily routine
A safe indoor home where she's treated as a cherished member of the family
A lifetime of love, patience, and commitment
Gala has already overcome incredible odds during her young life. Now she's ready to leave those difficult days behind and spend the rest of her life knowing what it feels like to be safe, loved, and part of a family.
Training, Adjustment & What to Expect
Like all puppies, Gala is still learning about the world around her. Her new family should expect normal puppy behaviors such as chewing, teething, house-training, and exploring everything with curiosity.
Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule:
3 Days to decompress and begin feeling safe
3 Weeks to learn your household routine
3 Months to fully settle into family life
Gala is eager to learn and will thrive with patient, positive reinforcement training.
Her new family should continue providing:
Positive reinforcement training
House-training and consistent routines
Daily exercise appropriate for her age
Continued socialization
Mental enrichment through toys and games
Plenty of love, patience, and encouragement
With guidance and consistency, Gala will blossom into a confident, affectionate companion who will reward her family with unwavering loyalty.
Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care
Bringing home a puppy is a lifelong commitment that includes proper veterinary care, training, exercise, and companionship.
As part of responsible pet ownership, Gala will need:
Routine veterinary wellness examinations
Completion of any remaining vaccinations as recommended by your veterinarian
Spaying when age-appropriate
Monthly flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention
A balanced, high-quality diet to support healthy growth
Daily exercise and mental enrichment
Continued obedience training and socialization
A safe, loving indoor home where she is treated as a cherished member of the family
As a distemper survivor, we recommend sharing Gala's medical history with your veterinarian during her first wellness visit. Many distemper survivors go on to enjoy long, healthy, and active lives with routine veterinary care and loving families.
