Musa is an adorable 4-month-old German Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd mix weighing approximately 10 pounds. She's still a little puppy with an entire lifetime of learning, growing, exploring, and loving ahead of her.

Musa is friendly with other dogs and good with children. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.

With her German Shepherd and Belgian Shepherd heritage, Musa may develop many of the wonderful qualities associated with Shepherd-type dogs. They are often intelligent, loyal, energetic, athletic, curious, and highly trainable. They can form incredibly strong bonds with their families and tend to thrive when they're included in everyday life.

Because Musa is still very young and is a mixed breed, her eventual adult size, appearance, personality, and energy level cannot be predicted with certainty. Her future family should be prepared for the possibility that this tiny 10-pound puppy may grow into a medium-to-large, active adult dog.

Puppy Training, Adjustment & What to Expect

At only four months old, Musa is still a baby. Her adopter should expect normal puppy behaviors such as chewing, occasional potty accidents, bursts of energy, curiosity, distraction, and testing boundaries.

Rescue puppies generally arrive with basic training at best. Musa's family should be ready to continue teaching her:

House training

Crate training as appropriate

Basic commands

Leash manners

Appropriate chewing

Bite inhibition

Calm greetings

Household boundaries

Proper socialization

Handling and grooming

Shepherd mixes can be extremely bright, so mental exercise will be just as important as physical activity as Musa grows. Short training sessions, food puzzles, scent games, interactive toys, and learning new skills are great ways to keep her mind busy.

Training should always focus on positive reinforcement, patience, consistency, and building confidence.

Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care

Musa has already been spayed, dewormed, treated with NexGard, and received a multiple vaccine.

Because she is only four months old, her adopter should have her vaccination records reviewed by their veterinarian to determine whether additional puppy vaccines or boosters are needed and when they should be administered.

Her future family should continue providing:

Routine veterinary wellness examinations

Completion of any remaining puppy vaccination schedule

Future vaccinations and boosters

Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention

Quality puppy nutrition appropriate for healthy growth

Healthy weight management

Routine dental care

Age-appropriate exercise

Continued training and socialization

Mental stimulation and enrichment

Veterinary care whenever illness or injury occurs

A safe and loving indoor home

Because Musa is still developing physically, exercise should be appropriate for her age. Her family should avoid excessive repetitive running, jumping, or other strenuous exercise while her body is still growing.
