Training, Adjustment & What to Expect

Many rescue puppies come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Even very young puppies require significant guidance and supervision to properly learn how to navigate life in a home environment.

Puppies are not automatically trained simply because they are young. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, basic structure, and socialization, adopters should expect to continue all training and development after adoption.

Adopting a puppy means being prepared for:

Potty training and accidents

Teething and chewing phases

Crate training and leash training

Nighttime wakeups and supervision

Jumping, barking, and playful puppy behavior

Ongoing socialization and confidence-building

Daily exercise, enrichment, and structure

Routine veterinary visits and vaccine boosters

Financial commitment throughout the dog's lifetime

Because Clone is still very young and small, extra care should also be taken around:

Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention

Clone is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
