Sassa is a beautiful 4-month-old German Shepherd / Belgian Shepherd mix weighing approximately 13 pounds. She's still a young puppy with plenty of growing, learning, and exploring ahead of her.

Sassa is friendly with other dogs and good with children. Her compatibility with cats is currently unknown.

With her German Shepherd and Belgian Shepherd heritage, Sassa may grow into a smart, active, loyal, and highly engaged companion. Both breed types are known for their intelligence, athleticism, trainability, and strong connection with their people. They often thrive when they're given both physical exercise and something productive to do with their minds.

Because Sassa is a mix and still very young, her eventual adult size, appearance, energy level, and personality cannot be predicted with certainty. However, families considering a Shepherd-type puppy should be prepared for the possibility of a medium-to-large, active adult dog.

Puppy Training, Adjustment & What to Expect

At only four months old, Sassa is still very much a puppy. Her adopter should expect normal puppy behaviors such as chewing, occasional accidents, bursts of energy, distraction, curiosity, and testing boundaries.

Rescue puppies generally arrive with basic training at best. Sassa's new family should be prepared to continue working on:

House training

Crate training as appropriate

Basic commands

Leash manners

Appropriate chewing

Bite inhibition

Calm greetings

Socialization

Household boundaries

Handling and grooming

With an intelligent Shepherd mix, training isn't simply about teaching commands. Mental enrichment is important too. Food puzzles, scent games, short training sessions, interactive toys, and learning new skills can all help keep Sassa's growing mind engaged.

Positive reinforcement and consistency will give her the best foundation for becoming a confident, well-mannered adult dog.

Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care

Sassa has already been spayed, dewormed, given NexGard, and received a multiple vaccine.

Because she is only four months old, her adopter should have her veterinary records reviewed by their veterinarian to determine what additional puppy vaccinations or boosters are still needed and when they should be given.

Her future family will be responsible for providing:

Completion of any remaining puppy vaccination schedule

Future vaccinations and boosters as recommended

Routine veterinary wellness examinations

Flea, tick, heartworm, and parasite prevention

Quality puppy food appropriate for her growth

Healthy weight management

Routine dental care

Age-appropriate exercise

Continued training and socialization

Mental stimulation and enrichment

Veterinary care whenever illness or injury occurs

A safe and loving indoor home

As Sassa grows, her exercise should increase gradually rather than pushing a young puppy into excessive running or strenuous repetitive activity before her body has matured.
