It is a long read and a long adoption process. Please understand we are ensuring that our babies go to great homes, and we don't know you personally (yet). Understand that this is an adoption of a beautiful little soul that deserves the absolute best life.
The average lifespan of a cat is 13 to 20 years. Some cats even live into their thirties, although this is far less common. So don't let that discourage you from adopting an adult cat! Rescue mama has had 3 live into their 20's. One was 8 weeks old.
BELLE and several feline family members were saved from a horrific hoarding case in Riverside, California. We know they are all related because the horrible human woman, kept letting them mate. When the Rescue Mama found out she took action.
As of DECEMBER 2025, 91 cats have either gone to other rescues or have been saved by us. You will know who these cats are by their names. They have all been named after the show "Once Upon A Time". Aside from the necklaces the kitties wear in their professional pictures, Rescue Mama names her rescue cats after shows she watches.
BELLE is a beautiful Dilute Calico Maine Coon who's ready to find her forever home. This gentle and shy girl has come a long way after surviving a difficult life in a hoarding situation. She's now learning to trust, embrace love, and enjoy the comfort of a safe, loving environment. Despite her rough start, BELLE has shown incredible resilience and a heart full of potential.
At first, BELLE is shy, especially in new situations or around unfamiliar people. But don't let that fool you-once she feels safe, she'll show you her playful, side. BELLE absolutely loves wet food (a true foodie at heart!) and will happily engage in play sessions, especially with her beloved siblings. She's got a playful spirit and will delight in chasing toys, pouncing, and just having fun with her fellow kittens. But she is not comfortable being picked up and is ok with occasional pets.
BELLE is a calm, thoughtful girl who enjoys her time exploring at her own pace. Her Maine Coon personality shines through in her curiosity and intelligence, and while she may need a little time to adjust to a new home, she will repay your patience with love and affection. BELLE gets along beautifully with her siblings, and it's clear she thrives in the company of other cats. A home with other friendly, confident cats might be ideal for her as she continues to build her trust and confidence.
She's an independent soul, but when she's comfortable, BELLE loves to curl up in a quiet spot and take a nap, or sit to soak in some attention. Her soft, luxurious fur and calm demeanor will make her the perfect companion for someone who understands her need for a gentle approach and a little extra time to settle in.

ADOPTION PROCESS:
1. Go to Workinwhiskers.com (Click on ADOPT)
2. Fill Out Online Form
3. Submit Online Application
4. Someone Will Call / Text to Do Phone Interview (within a week)
5. Will be notified of Approved Application
6. Home Visit (WILL BE SCHEDULED)
7. Official Meet and Greet with Kitty
8. Sign Adoption Contract - AME
9. Pay Adoption Fee (VENMO - ZELLE - PAYPAL or CASH)
10. Take the Kitty Home
********* MAY CONSIDER OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS NEAR CALIFORNIA BUT BE AWARE THAT WE WILL NOT SHIP. ADOPTER WILL NEED TO PICK UP**********
VOLUNTEERS are the only ones allowed to let you meet the kitty. Not PETSMART employees.
Volunteers are usually at PetSmart between 9 am to 1 pm for cleaning ONLY. The cats currently at PETSMART you are allowed to go visit. A good time to come visit is between 5 pm - 8 pm (Monday thru Saturday) and Sunday 3 pm - 6 pm. The VOLUNTEERS are only there in the evening for 3 hours so please call the PetSmart location, email us or visit the cattery for VISITING HOURS. Most days are different 3-hour shifts. It's based on volunteer availability and store hours. Store hours change with holidays.

The cats/kittens at a foster/rescue home, we will accommodate as much as possible. But steps 1-6 of the ADOPTION PROCESS need to be done before we do the OFFICIAL MEET & GREETS. It is easier to do the meet and greets at the locations listed below:

The crazy rescue mama will drive kitties to their new home, meet & greets, etc...once the phone interview and home check have been done. Gas donations always appreciated!

If the CAT/KITTEN is still listed (meaning here or other websites) they are still available. It does not mean they don't have other pending applications or meet and greets.
Please note: Just because you fill out an application and are approved does not obligate you to adopt the cat/kitten. If he or she is not a fit...we have plenty of other cats / kittens available for adoption.
We are a SMALL rescue based out of Hemet, California. We are all volunteers that run the rescue. If we haven't reached out....be patient.

We are NOT a government FUNDED shelter, and all our donations and adoption fees are for our rescued cats/kittens. So, we do not do DISCOUNTS.
