A warm hello to you. I'm ELLERINA and here is a little info about me:Breed: Canaan Dog/Saluki mixAge: 3 yearsGender: femaleWeight: 23 kgHeight: 45 cmCountry of origin: West Bank, IsraelHighlights: friendly, playful, cuddly, eager to learnYou will find here a very well socialized pupper. Pretty amazing given my start in life.My original human family realized that they'd bit off more than they could chew when my momma gave birth to me and my siblings. A rescue group arranged our placement in a shelter, but couldn't catch my momma, as she ran away. They took us to their shelter, where we were given the treatment we needed.Being a friendly girl (though a bit shy/anxious to start), I will happily join your family for fun & frolic. I'm playful at the right level- not too hyper, not too dull. So, if you are like Goldilocks, looking for just right... that's me.I can get startled by high pitched voices and the loud sounds of cars. If you can reassure me on walks with cars around, I'd be so grateful. Having been in a war zone, it's going to take some time to learn that I'm no longer in danger and can trust my envioronment. Once I settle into safety my true spirit will shine and you'll have a loyal sidekick ready for adventures and cuddles!I walk well with a leash, and am house trained! Eager to please, eager to learn & given my confidence level, I should be easy to train. You'll find I am quite entertaining to watch, especially given my curious nature. It will be amusing for you to watch me discover all the new things about life there in Canada.I get along fine with other dogs. I have mixed feelings about cats, so a home without felines is probably best. I haven't had interactions with children yet. Energy Level: moderate I get along with:Dogs: yesCats: NoKids: unknownFears: Loud voices and noises can startle me. Please be patient assisting me in my transition.Training:Leash skills: yes. Please be prepared to train continue training.House trained: yes. Please help me learn where to go in my new home.Health notes:I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,
http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.[MID-EAST] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East.[TURKEY] *Dogs receive 4D SNAP tests - which include: Heartworm, Ehrlichiosis, Leishmania and Anaplasmosis.
