Greetings all. My name is BODHI (Buddy) and below is some info about me:Breed: Pitbull Mix/Cane Corso mixAge: 2-1/2 yrsGender: MaleWeight: 54 lbsHeight: 15"Country of origin: US, New MexicoHighlights: Sweet, loving, charming, shy, anxiousSadly, my current pawrents are unable to keep me. It seems I need someone with more time to spend with me than they are able to devote. I am fine a couple hours alone, but as time transpires, I tend to get more distraught and yes (head hanging), I have destroyed some things. I would do best with a person who works at home or a family that has people around most of the time. I'm really quite the loving boy.A yard would be super, as I need more exercise time than I presently get. Acreage, an extra special bonus. But I can be a real couch potato too. A cuddly bug too.I am shy when meeting new people, once I warm up though, I am fine. If you provide me proper introduction with another dog, I am usually ok. I get along fine with my current doggie housemate.I can be somewhat reactive with strange dogs when out though. So, I will need someone willing to work through this with me. Though I have grabbed at a couple dogs when out, I didn't cause any damage, which shows this is a very workable issue. It seems to stem more from uncertainty, which is where you come in, to let me know I am safe and you are the one protecting me, not vice versa.I recently got clean bill of health regarding my blood testing from the vet. Just awaiting my fecal test. Original posting:No brag, here comes a boy who is as sweet and charming as they come, so I am told.My first owner was unable to keep me and so found what she "thought" was a great home for me. Unfortunately, I ended up at the shelter after I escaped the yard of my new home. Probably trying to look for my original person. Sadly, my new owner did not even make an effort to find me or bring me home. My first owner panicked seeing my post and feared I would be euthanized and said she would come get me, but she never did. Here is where a rescue stepped up to save me... shortly before that fateful day I was to be killed.I was put into boarding and have charmed the pants off the staff and volunteers alike ever since.Being very sweet, and a little on the shy side at first, I build trust over time. The tech who cares for me at the shelter had been working with him since I entered the shelter. I like and trust her. She advises no quick movements around me, as I will become very scared and start to tremble. They think I may have been hit in one of my prior homes. Sad, isn't it?The rescue transporter said I did well in the car and was great as they got me settled in at boarding. By moving slowly and ensuring that I is not surprised by what people are doing, the rescue staff have been able to build the same kind of trust with me. So, that will be the key to my trust with you too. Give me time to relax and learn you are safe by methodical movement and letting me know what is going on.I'd love it if we could do happy walking times together, super snuggles, and just become total buds. I am a kind soul who will make a fantastic addition to my new family.Energy Level: moderateI get along with:Dogs: yesCats: unknownKids: unknownFears: quick movementsTraining:Leash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training.House trained: unknown, as I am living at a boarding facility. Please help me learn.Health notes:I have been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to the Canadian border.Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,
http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems.Basic training should be taken seriously, but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home, check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs.Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live.
